Man electrocuted at Ganpati mandap

In a freak incident, a 30-year-old Kurla resident died due to electrocution while doing wiring work behind a Ganpati mandap in Kurla (W) on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Ritesh Pramod Pol, a resident of A-wing, Shaheed Jitesh cooperative housing society at Buddha Colony in Kurla (W).

According to fire brigade officials, the incident occurred around 12.45pm at Bal Gopal Ganesh Mandal mandap, opposite Buddh Vihar Colony near Beni Israel Church in Kurla.

"Pol was doing some wiring work behind the Ganpati mandap, when he suffered electric shock and fell unconscious. Some people there heard his cry and realised that he was
electrocuted," said a fire brigade official.

The official added that the fire brigade was immediately alerted about the incident and soon a staff from BKC fire brigade rushed to spot along with an ambulance.

"His hands had electric wires. The fire brigade staff first took the wires off his hands and rushed him to Bhabha Hospital where he was declared dead," the official said.

"We have registered an accidental death case in this regard," said an officer from Kurla police station.
