The Cyber Crime Police on Monday night arrested a man accused of allegedly duping a businessman to the tune of Rs 1.02 lakh. The man allegedly promised the businessman that he would secure a seat for his son in a renowned international business school in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). The accused, identified as Harshal Bhalerao alias Ayush Sharma (27), had forged an admission receipt and misused the school's logo and had sent the same to the complainant over email.

The victim had met the accused on social networking site, Facebook and claimed to be close to the famous Bollywood actor, Salman Khan. The accused, based out of Kalyan, had also promised the victim that he would secure a lead role for the latter's wife in Dabaang 3. Probe revealed that the accused was previously arrested by Mumbai Police in 2015 for allegedly creating Salman Khan's fake Facebook profile.

According to the police, on April 13, a Kolkata-based businessman had sent an email to the school's email address which stated, "Please find attachments. I have deposited fees for my son. Kindly let me know status of this receipt. Awaiting your reply." The attachment included fee receipt of the school wherein it was stated that the businessman's son has been given admission in UKG.

"When the complainant, who works as Head of Administration at an IB school at BKC, went through school records, he learnt that the businessman's son had not been given admission in school and neither had he applied for an admission. Also, the fee payment receipt, which the businessman had was different from the school's receipt. The complainant, on April 17, approached the police stating that someone had misused the school's name to dupe him," said a police officer.

Upon inquiring and interrogating the businessman, it was revealed that he had met an Ayush Sharma on Facebook. "The businessman provided us Sharma's contact number and we later learnt that the said number belonged to Harshal Bhalerao, after which he was placed under arrest," said the officer.

The police seized Bhalerao's mobile phone along with SIM card and memory card. "We are trying to get details of the bank account in which the businessman was induced to send the money. We are also probing if Bhalerao has duped more people."
