Man dies after falling off 8th floor of bldg, 1 held

A 29-year-old man died after he fell off the eighth floor of a building in Worli area recently. The police, after registering a case, have arrested the supervisor of the company for which he was working. 

The deceased has been identified as Soufikul Islam Khabirul Shaikh.

According to Worli police, the incident took place on December 17 last year while Shaikh was painting on the building’s eighth floor. 

The police said Shaikh was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital and admitted. However, he succumbed to his injuries after almost a month. 

“Shaikh was working with a company called Struck Re-take Structural Restoration Pvt Ltd. The company supervisor did not take any safety precautions for people working on the site like helmet and others due to which Shaikh fell off and died. Shaikh sustained severe injuries in the fall and was admitted for over 25 days,” said a police officer 

“We have registered a case in this connection and arrested the supervisor of the company,” he added.

A case has been registered under section 304(4) (Causing death due to negligence) of Indian Penal Code against the supervisor.
