A 40-year-old man who allegedly called SM Chavan, the Punjab inspector general of police, and threatened to blow up Vikhroli railway station, was caught by Oshiwara police and handed over to Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS).

According to the police, the accused, Harish Ramlakhan Arya, called on the IG's personal number at midnight on Tuesday and told him he was from the Indian Mujahideen, and that at 11am on Wednesday, the Vikhroli railway station would be blown up.

Following this, the main police control was informed and alerts were sent to crime branch, railway controls, east police control, Vikhroli police and Park Site police.

The crime branch was asked to trace the caller (tower location) and nab him. The caller was identified as Harish Arya, a resident of Behram Baug in Jogeshwari West, and the call was traced to Gandhi School Road, Navshakti Nagar in Jogeshwari West.

"We received information from the crime branch that the caller was operating in our jurisdiction. We sent a team around 3am to the home of the accused, nabbed him and immediately handed him over to Juhu Anti-Terrorism Squad unit," said Baburao Mukhedkar, PI, Oshiwara police station.

The ATS has taken over the investigations. "We are verifying facts and investigating from all possible angles," said inspector general of police, ATS, Niket Kaushik.

ATS sources said they were on the lookout for one more person in the case.
