Man arrested for repeatedly raping 23-year-old daughter

A 23-year-old woman was allegedly raped by her 64-year-old father in Kandivli West. The incident happened in the wee hours of Tuesday. According to the police, both the victim and the accused lived on the footpath in Poisar area. Around 2am, when the victim was asleep, the accused forced himself on her.Balsingh Rajput, DCP (Zone XI), said, "The girl, her two siblings and mother were fast asleep. The accused forced himself onto the girl and threatened her into not speaking a word about it. However, the girl started yelling for help."

A few locals in the neighbourhood heard the woman's screams and came to her rescue. They thrashed the man when they saw what he was up to and took him to the police station, said the police.

A case of rape was registered with Kandivli police and the accused was arrested. "The girl, in her statement, told the police that the accused has sexually assaulted her several times in the past. She was threatened of dire consequences if she spoke about it. None of the family members were aware of it as she did not confide in anybody."The accused did small-time jobs, while the girl is unemployed.
