Malaria cases decreased by 47% in 5 years

As per the Right To Information (RTI) data collected by the city-based Praja Foundation, there has been drastic fall in malaria cases in the city in past five years. The reply received from the government-run hospitals and dispensaries, malaria cases have decreased by 47 per cent from 2012-13 to 2016-17 in the city.

As per the Right To Information (RTI) data collected by the city-based Praja Foundation, there has been drastic fall in malaria cases in the city in past five years. The reply received from the government-run hospitals and dispensaries, malaria cases have decreased by 47 per cent from 2012-13 to 2016-17 in the city.

While in the year 2012-13, total cases in MCGM hospitals and dispensaries were 18,296, in the year 2016-17 the number of cases went down to 9,679. The report also states that in the year 2016-17, probable death cases due to malaria were 127.

While age-wise percentage of death due to malaria in year April 2016 to March 2017 is highest in age group 20 to 39 years (33.9 per cent) and lowest in age group below four years (2.4 per cent), gender-wise per cent of cause of malaria deaths is highest in male – 68 per cent and in female is – 32 per cent.
