The residents of Malabar Hill are facing a severe problem of traffic congestion on roads due to illegal vehicle parking. The Malabar Hill Residents Association have suggested that residents install stack parking systems in their buildings to avoid parking on the streets. Moreover, several complaints have also been made to the Mumbai Traffic Police department to take action against persons parking their vehicles on the street.
The Ridge road which starts from Teen Batti Signal is a major road for the residents of Malabar Hill which further connects to Nepean Sea road via Mount Pleasant road and LD Ruparel Marg. The Ridge road and LD Ruparel Marg witnesses numerous cars parked illegally leading to long traffic jams on the hillock.
Indrani Maklani, founder trustee for Malabar Hill Residents Association, said, "We have suggested the building residents to install stack parking inside the building complex which has space for the system. This will resolve the traffic woes faced by the residents."
"The situation on LD Ruparel Marg is worse with disjointed footpaths and cars parked on both sides leaves no space for pedestrians to walk. The road is accident prone for pedestrians and the issue should be resolved," said Malkani.
According to a senior Mumbai Traffic Police department officer, the residents of Malabar Hill are purchasing more than two vehicles leading to lack of parking space inside the residential buildings. The residents then choose to park it on the streets which is later occupied on both sides leading to traffic jam while entering and exiting the Ridge road and LD Ruparel Marg.
