Fire fighting and dousing operations lasted for three-and-a-half hours. However, it had resulted in heavy traffic snarls in the area till late in the afternoon.

A major fire broke out at Kino Cottage, a restaurant and bar on JP Road near Seven Bungalows in Versova on Thursday morning. All those present in the ground-plus-two storey bungalow rushed out immediately after the fire started broke out around 10:45 am. No injuries were reported.
Five fire tenders, four water tankers and four jumbo tankers were rushed to the spot. According to fire officials, it was a level II fire, which is considered a major fire, which created a scare among the residents. The bungalow has a slum on one side and residential towers on the other.

The fire is believed to have been caused by a short circuit in the electrical wiring. The fire spread as it burned down the furniture present in the bungalow within minutes.
A fire official said, “The exact cause of the fire can be known only after a investigation. All materials present inside the bungalow caught fire, but the whole two-storey structure is not damaged”.
