Maid allegedly raped in moving car at Colaba, one held

A 22-year old maid registered a complaint with the Colaba police on Tuesday, alleging that two persons known to her forced her to sit in a car and, while one raped her, the other accused molested her. The police have arrested one of the accused and are on the lookout for the other.

The arrested accused has been identified as Raju, alias Rajiv Gorilal Valmiki, 26, a driver by profession and resident of Colaba. The police are on the lookout for the second accused, Dalla Yadav, 29.

According to additional commissioner of police, south region, Krishna Prakash, the complainant is a resident of Pune and works as a maid in a flat at Kartar Bhavan on Minu Desai Road in Colaba.

"Yadav and the woman know each other and since some time, Yadav has been insisting that the woman marry him. However, she has refused, saying that she has a husband and two children," said senior police inspector, Rameshwar Suple of Colaba police station.

He added that on Tuesday, at 12:30pm when the woman exited the building she works at, to throw the garbage, she saw Yadav with his friend Raju Valmiki there.

"Yadav took her hand and made her sit in a car parked at the side of the road. While Yadav raped her inside the car, Valmiki was outside. Once Yadav came out, Valmiki went in and molested her," said Suple.

The woman then approached the police and lodged a complaint in this regard. On the basis of the plaint, the police managed to apprehend Valmiki and have launched a manhunt to nab Yadav. The duo has been booked under various sections of the IPC for rape and outraging the modesty of a woman.
