Alleging that NCP president Sharad Pawar had always demonstrated double standards, leader of opposition in state assembly Eknath Khadse on Monday said that his criticism of defectors from his own party was nothing but testimony of the same.

After former minister and ex-state unit president Babanrao Pachpute and former minister Vijaykumar Gavit and former Union minister Suryakanta Patil left the NCP to join the BJP, Pawar had said, "It is good that these people have left," although, as Khadse pointed out, these very leaders were with Pawar for years.

When asked about seat-sharing with the Shiv Sena, he said that discussions have not progressed since it depended on the seats' demand by the alliance partners. He said the alliance partners Swabhimani Party led by Lok Sabha MP Raju Shetty, Republican Party of India led by Rajya Sabha MP Ramdas Athavale, Shivsangram Party by Vinayak Mete, and Rashtriya Samaj Party led by Mahadev Jankar would be putting forward their demand after which a decision would be taken as to how many and which seats. Only after talks with alliance partners, will seat-sharing between BJP and Shiv Sena be discussed, he added.
