Maharashtra Navnirman Sena workers assault Railway cops on duty

Two Government Railway Police (GRP) officers were allegedly assaulted by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers while they were keeping a watch on the activities at the MNS party office at Dadar. The two policemen from the special branch of GRP were shooting the press conference held by the MNS partyworkers. The two policemen from Dadar Railway police station were on the trail of absconding accused in the rail roko case.

According to Shivaji park police, constable Gajanan Jadhav,27 posted with Dadar GRP was instructed by the senior officers to keep watch on the absconding accused of the Rail Roko andolan which had brought Mumbai to a standstill. Jadhav was allegedly assaulted by Jitu Patil, Secretary of Railway Kamgaar Sena of MNS who along with other party workers snatched Jadhav's phone and deleted the recordings and assaulted him.

"We condemn the act by the MNS workers. We are being blamed for failed intelligence but when we try to collect intelligence, our policemen are assaulted", said Samadhan Pawar, DCP Central Zone.

The Shivaji Park police have registered a case of assaulting or preventing a public servant from conducting duty and for assault of the Indian Penal Code against Jitu Patil and Swapnil Pandit.
