Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) activists vandalised a toll booth at Katai near Shil Phata on Thursday morning. After the Kolhapur incident, the MNS members targeted the toll naka at Katai.
The MNS has been opposing the collection of toll in the state without providing any amenities and services to the citizens.
Alleging that the toll naka at Katai is illegal, several protesters attacked the booth around 11am and damaged the equipment and furniture there.
“A Monopolistic and Restrictive Trade Practice (MRTP) complain is filed for collecting toll without license,” said MNS MLA Ramesh Patil.
MNS leader Rajesh Kadam and legislator Ramesh Patil were in the forefront during the protest.
Police immediately rushed to the spot and arrested 20 MNS activists, including five women, for vandalising the toll booth.
“We have arrested 15 men and 5 women who were vandalising the toll naka. They were produced in the court and granted bail,” said Milind Patil, senior police inspector of Manpada police station.
