The state housing department has invited suggestions and objections from citizens to formulate rules and regulation for the housing regulatory authority (HRA), exercise of which will help effectively curb malpractice in the real estate sector.
According to a state housing official, these suggestions and objections can be submitted by October 10. Once they have been approved, the HRA will come in effect.
"It will empowered the flat buyers and the HRA as well. Presently, flat buyers are vulnerable and they do no have proper protection. Therefore, real estate has been plagued by increasing numbers of cheating and malpractice cases. If a developer fails to adhere the rules and regulations of the HRA, then he can be prosecuted and will face penalty. Besides, if promoters leave the project midway due to any reason, then the buyers can come together and complete the project," said officials.
The state government has defined all important terms in the real estate sectors such as agents, act, association, agreements, flat purchasers etc. "It will help to take actions and there will be no confusion over the definitions of words," the official added.
