The state government on Tuesday assured a detailed inquiry into the alleged TDR (Transferrable Development Rights) scam in the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation within a fortnight. It also assured that the government would take action against all those found involved in the scam.

Shiv Sena MLC Anil Parab had attracted the attention of the Upper House towards this alleged scam through a call attention motion. Parab pointed out that there are a few reservations marked for municipal corporation's automobile workshop, veterinary clinic, state government office, Union government office, a middle school and a road. He also pointed out that while granting TDR against the reservations, it was necessary to ensure that the encroachments on the said reserved plots were to be raised down.

Parab added that TDR was awarded without removing the encroachments and this was indicative of a scam. He pointed out that the boundary wall was not constructed and no survey was done; nor did the municipal corporation verify the maps availed from the land records department before awarding the TDR. Parab alleged that this scam was huge and it involved granting of 6.70 lakh sq ft TDR. He demanded suspension of the then commissioner.

Minister for state (urban development) Ranjit Patil initially tried to give a detailed reply by giving information of reservations, but Parab intervened and pointed out that the simple pre-condition of removing the encroachments was not done before granting TDR and that he had written letters in this regard.

After the chairman of the legislative council Ramraje Naik-Nimbalkar ordered the government to conduct a detailed inquiry into the matter, the minister assured the House that the government would conduct an inquiry and complete it within a fortnight.

Parab alleged that TDR was illegally awarded. He also pointed out that the local residents who have encroached have objected to the land survey. He demanded immediate inquiry into the matter.
