Maharashtra government has disbursed Rs 14,388 crore against loan waiver of 46.52 lakh farmers, under the Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj Farmers Self-respect scheme, as per the information provided to RTI Activist Anil Galgali.

However, the government did not provide the details of district-wise disbursement.

The Public Information Officer DM Rane, of the state government's Ministry of Cooperation, Marketing and Textiles informed that the district wise data is not available with the government. "Besides, it did not have information on village-wise data in Vidarbha. The government had received 56,59,159 applications under the Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj Farmers Self-respect scheme. The highest applications received are from Ahmednagar district at 3,34,920.

Here, 14,797 applications were classified as others. Besides, 1,620 applications are from Mumbai suburbs, whereas 23,715 applications are from Mumbai City. A total of 19,88,234 accounts in nationalised banks have been approved, and a total of Rs 7,766 crore has been provided to the nationalised banks." said Galgali. The 26,64,576 accounts have been approved in DCC Banks, for which Rs 6,770 crore has been provided.

Anil Galgali said that the huge amount has been disbursed by the government despite not having the record of district- and village-wise disbursement details. "It is a major lapse on part of the government. Due to the lapse, it has become impossible to verify if actual beneficiaries of the villages have been benefitted by the loan waiver disbursement," he said.

Galgali requested chief minister Devendra Fadnavis to prepare a list of beneficiaries district- and village-wise for transparency.
