Maharashtra government appoints Dr Y Mohit Kumar as MSRDC's independent director

Kumar has a PhD in Management and has held several positions in India and abroad.

The state government has appointed its first non-government director in Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC). Nagpur-based Y Mohit Kumar, who has 18 years of experience in the field of infrastructure and public health, has been picked up for the post. The government on Monday issued notification in this regard.

Kumar has a PhD in Management and has held several positions in India and abroad. He was the head of the public health medicine of the Australian government and has also worked with UNDP.

MSRDC is headed by the state public works minister Eknath Shinde, while IAS officer Radheshyam Mopalwar is the vice chairman and managing director.

MSRDC is currently in the midst of completion of projects worth Rs 60,000 crore, comprising Mumbai Nagpur Super Communication Express Way (Rs 45,000 crore), Bandra Versova Sea Link (Rs 9,000 crore), augmentation of Mumbai Pune Expressway (Rs 5,000 crore), New Thane Creek Bridge (Rs 800 crore) and 21-km Bhiwandi-Kalyan-Sheel Phata road (Rs 400 crore).

Kumar told DNA, "As an independent director, I will see that all the ongoing projects are completed in a stipulated time period without cost escalation."
