Marathwada, which is the worst drought-hit region of the state, is getting rains for the last five days. It is likely that the rains would continue for the next 3-4 days.

After four days of rains, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has thanked Mother Nature for the showers in the region and has expressed confidence that the Jalyukta Shivaar Yojana would provide permanent irrigation for the state. The chief minister's office has issued a press release through which Fadnavis has said that the continuous rains in Marathwada has raised water levels in some of the major dams in the region, namely Manjra, which provides water to Latur and Nimna Terna, which provides water to Nilanga. The chief minister has pointed out that over one lakh works under the Jalyukta Shivaar Yojana have been completed in six thousand villages throughout the state. He said that these works would prove to be vital for rejuvenating water sources as well provide a long-term measure for getting rid of drought forever.

Shrinivas Aundhkar, director of Mahatma Gandhi Mission Centre for Astronomy and Space Technology at Nanded, informed dna that the low-pressure area is still active on the bay of Bengal and it would result in good rains for the next 4 days in Marathwada, Madhya Maharashtra and many other places. Aundhkar informed that the El Nino effect can last longer and it could be converted into Super El Nino, which would result in rains with hailstorm after November.

He also said that it is raining in Nanded in the evening and the pattern is such that the impact of low pressure would be felt in southern and central India which would have rains for the next four days.
