Congress state unit president and Lok Sabha MP Ashok Chavan on Saturday accused the BJP leadership of making false promises and announcements. He said the foreign direct investment (FDI) in Gujarat was only 8 per cent of the total amount announced by the then chief minister Narendra Modi.

Chavan, in a press release, also accused Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis of making family trips to bring in foreign investment. He said it has been a constant feature of the BJP-led governments to go in for inflated promises and announcements, which never become a reality.

He pointed out that Modi, during his tenure as Gujarat CM, had announced that his state had received investment worth billions of dollars, but now it is evident that the investment was only around eight per cent of the amount announced.
