Maharashtra: All sitting NCP MPs to to get Lok Sabha tickets

According to the senior NCP leader, in 2014, they had contested 21 seats while winning four seats in Lok Sabha elections.

In bid to avert any possible rebellion, the Nationalist Congress Party has decided to allot the ticket to its all sitting member of parliaments for upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

According to the senior NCP leader, in 2014, they had contested 21 seats while winning four seats in Lok Sabha elections. These seats included Supriya Sule (Baramati), Vijaysinh Mohite Patil (Madha), Udayanraje Bhosale (Satara), and Dhananjay Mahadik (Kolhapur) while in bypolls Madhukar Kukade won the seat for Bhandar-Gondia by defeating the BJP candidate. In 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the NCP had demanded 50:50 seats.

Nawab Malik, the NCP spokesperson said that the party has decided to give the ticket to the winnable candidates in upcoming Lok Sabha elections. "The NCP has almost finalised the candidates for the sitting seats. However, the final decision will be taken by the party leadership. In coming days, we will also finalise other seats ticket once the seat sharing with Congress is done. This time, we have fair chance to get more people get elected. There is palpable anger against the incumbent government. It will be reaped during the polls," Malik said.

Earlier there was talk that the Satara MP Udayanraje Bhosale was unlikely to repeated. "Udayanraje is popular leader of the NCP in Satara. But he hardly worked for the expansion of the party in the district. Besides, he has not got along with other leaders of NCP in district. Most of the NCP MLAs from Satara has asked to not to allot a ticket to Udayanraje. However, NCP chief Sharad Pawar is in favour of him despite all local opposition," said senior NCP leader requested anonymity.
