Being a celebrity doesn’t grant you licence to misbehave with a public servant. That’s the lesson a 25-year-old model, who had allegedly misbehaved with police constables, learnt the hard way upon her arrest on Monday.

The model, Anjum Nair, was drunk, said the police when constables visited her Oshiwara home late on Sunday night to ask her to tone down the cacophonous music emanating from her flat at Samarth Aangan Society in Lokhandwala Complex.

The police claimed Nair abused the constables and behaved indecently with them.

Senior inspector Nasir Pathan of Oshiwara police station said that a party was going on at Nair’s house and the police control room had received a complaint about the din at her house.

“She was with her friends and there was too much noise in the apartment when our constables reached there,” said Pathan.

When the constables told her to reduce the volume, Nair allegedly abused the officials. “She spoke to the constables in harsh, obscene language and pushed one of them,” said Pathan.

“Camera footage outside her apartment shows her misbehaving with our officers. Also, a medical examination has confirmed she was drunk.”

Nair, who was arrested on Monday, has been booked for ‘assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty’ and ‘use of obscene language’.

She will be produced in a local court on Tuesday.
