After a complaint filed by a Mumbai based RTI activist, the Lokayukta has asked the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to submit a report on its pending state-of-the-art Thalasemia Centre project in Borivli.
RTI activist Chetan Kothari had written a complaint letter to the Lokayukta body earlier this year about the delay in the project. According to the RTI reply received by the activist, the plan was sanctioned in July 2015 with the budget of Rs 4.78 crore. The centre, which is expected to cater to 1,500 patients per year is yet to hire staff and purchase medical equipment required for its functioning.
Following the complaint. the government body has written a letter to the BMC's Municipal Commissioner seeking the report related to the project and its current status. The follow-up in the case is still pending.
