Indrani Mukerjea, the prime accused in the Sheena Bora case, told the CBI court on Tuesday that she needs to be out of jail for the sake of justice as she can ensure better care for herself outside. This came during the hearing of her bail plea.

"I would request the court to give me a chance to stay alive the end of the trial," Indrani said in her bail application. She has cited her failing health to seek bail.

Indrani said she is very much well capable of taking care of herself as she can hire an entire team of medical professionals as well as domestic helps. Indrani had filed the bail application on October 3. The prosecution submitted its response on October 11, opposing the same.

The CBI says Indrani has already filed for divorce and her husband Peter Mukerjea too is in jail in the same case. There would be no one to take care of her, says the CBI.

According to the prosecution, Indrani, her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna, and her driver Shyamvar Rai killed Sheena and dumped her body in the jungles of Pen in Raigad district in 2012. Her husband Peter Mukerjea was later arrested for allegedly playing a role in the crime. Rai has since turned into an approver.
