The Bombay High Court on Thursday asked the Pune Traffic police to gather technical know-how from the Mumbai traffic police which installed CCTV cameras across the city to rein in traffic violators.A division bench of Justice V M Kanade and Justice Swapna Joshi said "Forget about foreign countries, see how Mumbai police is implementing the CCTv project and issuing challans to traffic offenders. Collect details from them and follow it in Pune.
"The bench also directed the Pune police to gather information from Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai police on how to start up a what's app number where citizens can directly lodge complaints about traffic offences. The court has asked the police to come out with a plan and the outer limit for its implementation and inform the court in two weeks.The observation was made by the court while hearing fatal accidents in Pune city are the highest in India, as per data submitted around 100 accidents took place on Pune roads, of them 22 lose their life.Five citizens of Pune have knocked on the doors of the High court highlighting urgent need to ensure proper implementation of traffic rules and appointment of traffic police officials to regulate thetraffic junctions and also to equip the traffic police department with necessary gadgets and equipment's to enforce the traffic rule.

The plea prays for directions to authorities to ensure traffic policemen are posted at all important traffic junctions on all days. Policemen are equipped with gadgets to effectively implement the rules. Appoint a three member grievance rederessal committee of which one member could be a retired high court judge to monitor the steps taken by the authorities to resolve traffic problems. Direct the authorities to send flying squad across the city of Pune to keep a check on traffic violations and penalise theoffenders.
