Bharat Ratna awardee Lata Mangeshkar celebrated her 87th birthday on a rather cheerless note. On Thursday, a close associate of Mangeshkar claimed that she was upset with the Mumbai Police for not taking action against a woman accused of using the iconic singer's name, letterhead and signature to dupe scores of people.

While the Gamdevi police claims that the accused woman is untraceable, DNA managed to track her down at her Nallasopara residence.

Mahesh Rathod, a close associate, had lodged a complaint with the Gamdevi police on behalf of Mangeshkar against Revati Khare, a resident of Achole Gaon in Nallasopara East for allegedly using the name of legendary singer to collect funds from the social circles in the music industry, and at public events.

On Thursday, well-wishers flocked Mangeshkar's Peddar Road residence to convey their birthday wishes to her. "A week after we filed the complaint, the police is just assuring that the action will be taken but we have not seen any positive development in the case," said Rathod.

When contacted, Dnyaneshwar Chavan, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 1, said, "The Gamdevi police investigating the case and is yet to trace the woman and no arrest has been made in the case. We are investigating further."

However, DNA tracked down Khare at her residence in Nallasopara. "I have not committed any crime and I am being falsely implicated in the case", said Khare. She refused to comment further.
