The deputy director of school education has decided to extend by a day the date of online admissions of First Year Junior College (FYJC) for the students whose names have appeared in the second list declared on July 9 on account of the heavy downpour in the city.

With heavy rains bringing the city to a stand still, many students seeking admission in FYJC could not reach the colleges allotted to them. On account of this, and because of water logging on several roads and trains running late, the education department decided to extend the date.

As per the schedule, the original date for FYJC online admission was till 3 pm on July 11. The date has now been extended to July 12 till 3pm. And colleges have been given time till 5pm to upload admission, cancellation and submission of seats of students.

NB Chavan, deputy director of education, said: "It was raining heavily across the city. That's why we thought of giving students one more day to come and take admission in the colleges allotted to them. Saturday will be the last day for admission for students whose names have appeared in the second list. There will be no further extension."
