A 15-year-old boy from Kurla was allegedly kidnapped and murdered near the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway by unknown people. The Valiv police who found his decomposed body, buried it after autopsy. The youngster had apparently eloped with a 19-year-old girl from some place in Uttar Pradesh.

The police who now suspect the murder to be a case of honour killing, have exhumed the body.

The deceased, Abhishek Vijay Yadav, fell in love with the girl and the two fled from Uttar Pradesh on May 28. The Valiv police found the body on June 15 and buried it at Sasunavghar on National Highway 08.

The police had identified the boy through the clothes he had been wearing. The body was exhumed in the presence of Vasai Tehsildar, and it has been sent for post mortem in JJ Hospital.

"The boy's father suspects this to be a case of honour killing. According to him, the girl's relative have killed Abhishek. We will send a detailed report to the GRP," said a Valiv police official.

"The Kurla GRP have already registered a case of kidnapping. We found the body on the highway in our jurisdiction. We conducted the post mortem as we realised that he had been killed with a sharp weapon. The body was decomposed and had been lying at the spot we saw it for at least 15 days. After the autopsy we buried it, said Narayan Patil, senior inspector, Valiv station.

"We will co-ordinate with the GRP and send them the autopsy report as well as the report we had filed. They will carry out further investigations as it was they who have registered a case of kidnapping," said Patil.
