Sri Ahobila Mutt in Koparkhairane will have a grand celebration this year as it is the tenth annual mahotsavam that is conducted to mark the birth anniversaries of two illustrious vaishnavas (followers of lord Vishnu) gurus; Swami Vedanta Desikan and Srimath Adivan Sathkopa Yatheendra Mahadesikan.
This religious ceremony will be held from November 10 to November 17 in Kalash Udayan in sector 11, Koparkhairane.
It will be their 745th and 634th birth anniversaries respectively that is marked with vedic recitals, singing of spiritual verses and spiritual discourses by distinguished people. “This year it will be a grand celebration with everyday recitals of vaishnava hymns in praise of lord Vishnu followed by an aarti and prasad distribution,” said R Sampathkumar, general secretary of the Sri Lakshmi Nrisimha Swamy Kainkarya Sabha (SLNSKS) that is organising the event under Sri Ahobila Mutt.
He added that the two gurus have contributed immensely to spread the vaishnavite way of living.
“Their contribution was immense in establishing the vaishnava sampradaya. Their literary and poetry works laid the foundation for vaishnavite way of living i.e. promoting importance of faith in god and compassion towards fellow human beings,” said Sampathkumar.
On November 15, the idol of Swami Vedanta Desikan will be taken in a procession in Koparkhairane and Vashi. Several discourses that will be given throughout the eight day celebration will focus on their lives and works and also on various spiritual subjects.
