Kirloskar puts daughter’s wedding on hold

Thursday, 17 December 2009 - 1:44am IST | Place: Mumbai | Agency: dna

Builder Anil Seolekar, the groom’s father, was held for attacking Sakal scribes.

The December 27 wedding between industrialist Atul Kirloskar’s daughter Aditi and builder-hotelier Aniruddha alias Anil Seolekar’s eldest son Rohan has been “indefinitely postponed”.

Since Wednesday morning, friends and relatives of the Kirloskars were being informed through personal calls and text messages about the abrupt postponement.

A close family friend who received the call on behalf of Atul Kirloskar’s wife Arti, confirmed the development while stating that the Kirloskars did not wish to comment on the matter. The postponement comes in the wake of the arrest and subsequent bail of Seolekar for allegedly trying to attack some journalists on the premises of the Marathi daily Sakal on Saturday evening.

Seolekar has been booked for allegedly attacking the president of Pune Union of Working Journalists Yogesh Kute and journalist Sandip Jagdale — both work for Sakal.

The attack led to protests in Pune and other parts of the state with demands that Seolekar be arrested.
