The Maharashtra government on Friday announced a compensation amount of Rs5 lakh for the family of the Pune-based techie Mohsin Shaikh, an IT graduate, who was bludgeoned to death on Monday after protests over morphed pictures of late Bal Thackery and Chhatrapati Shivaji went viral on social networking sites.
Following uproar at Azad Maidan, chief minister Prithviraj Chavan, announced the compensation to be given from the chief ministers relief fund. Chavan has also appealed to people to maintain peace in the state and assured of stern action against the accused persons.
