Come Saturday and over 20 storytellers will be gathered at a two-day carnival to unfold a host of stories written especially for children. Mount Litera School International (MLSI) will be bringing Bookaroo, India's first children's literature festival to Mumbai in the last weekend of February.

Bookaroo is scheduled to take place on February 24 and 25 from 11:30am to 4pm at the Mount Litera School International in Bandra-Kurla Complex, Mumbai, a progressive IB school, which prepares students to be future-ready. "As partners for Bookaroo 2018, we are proud to be facilitating a mélange of celebrated minds, diverse perspectives and heightened cultural experiences which is bound to stoke the love for literature in young minds. It is heartening that the ethos of the Festival resembles with our core identity of evolving our children into 'Being Future Ready'," said Navyata Goenka, Advisor, MLSI.

For 10 years now Bookaroo is a festival that has struck a chord with children in India. It has travelled to nine cities and has held 26 editions. It has also won the London Book Fair International Excellence Award for Literary Festival in 2017. "It is very exciting to bring Bookaroo to Mumbai for the first time. We hope that the children of Mumbai will have a wonderful time with the authors, illustrators and storytellers at the festival. It is a pleasure to be associated with MLSI, a school that gives reading the importance it deserves. We are happy that MLSI has thrown open its doors and shares Bookaroo's vision and passion of bringing children and books together. We look forward to a lasting association," said Swati Roy, festival director, Bookaroo.

At its 11th edition, Bookaroo will present a range of literature for kids to delve into from ages four to fourteen. Children could curl up with a book under the 'kahani' tree, where stories from faraway lands are brought to life. Or scribble away at the 'doodle wall' which has been described as an opportunity for kids to express themselves. For the tweenies, the fest has a multilingual storytelling style of 'Qissebaazi' planned. Rap music and anthem writing workshops also await these young adults.

The two days will feature over 50 sessions of varying activities which include dramatised readings, storytelling sessions, workshops on Haiku writing and Patua art with well known authors and writers and performing artists, ensuring an enlightened and fun filled weekend.
