The children can now double their enjoyment as Mumbai's iconic Old Woman Shoe — the Boot in the Kamala Nehru Park in Malabar Hill is reopening from Thursday. The big tall renovated shoe house is not only painted with bright colours, but now even has LED lights as its another major attraction. The shoe, which was shut for more than five years, is now open with the entire Kamala Nehru Park being thrown open for public. The park was shut from March 2017 for renovation and will be inaugurated on Thursday evening.

The Kamala Nehru park located at Malabar Hill was always an attraction for kids and the civic body has now come up with many new features for visitors. The park has a viewing gallery, giving a bird's eye view of Marine drive, a selfie gallery — an attraction for the youth, water fountain with theme songs for kids being played, tri-coloured flowers around heritage Ashok Stambh, a separate flower garden and many more attractions for visitors.

The renovated park will be inaugurated by Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar and Yuva Sena Chief Aditya Thackeray on Thursday evening and will then be open for public. The park's visiting timings will continue to remain the same as earlier, which was 5 am to 9 pm.

"The old version of the park had more than 100 visitors on odd days, reaching up to 500 on holidays. Now, summer vacations are nearing and with the park now providing so many attractions, we expect more visitors. We have concentrated on children play and education through a counting game on railings, theme songs, eating areas for school picnics, etc. The families will enjoy the viewing gallery and selfie point," said BMC's Hydraulic Engineer Ashok Tawadia. The garden's land is with the hydraulic department of BMC.
