A five-year-old girl who was abducted by a bike-borne kidnapper was tracked within 24 hours and reunited with her parents by the Child Protection Unit (CPU) of Thane police on Saturday. The victim had been kidnapped while she played on Saturday afternoon hours in the New Tawre compound in Bhoiwada, Bhiwandi.

A senior police inspector from child protection unit, Madan Ballal, said that the girl, Roli Kapildev Saroj, is the only daughter of her parents. Her father works in a powerloom in Bhiwandi. Around 12 pm, a bike rider pulled up and kidnapped her and vanished in an instant. The parents lodged a complaint with the Bhoiwada police station.

Sub-inspector Kamaluddin Shaikh of the CPU said, "We soon went on the search and the residents of the area told us that they had seen the girl behind some wooden logs lying nearby. We then suspected that the accused, too, would be nearby, but when we reached the spot, someone else was with the girl. When we questioned him, he told us that a biker had left the girl on the road. Because she was crying, he had given her food. He was going to take her to the police station. The girl was later handed over to their family and was reunited within a day of investigation. We are investigating further."
