Ryan International school in Kharghar has emerged as the first runners-up in the AISM ICSE/ISC Athletic Meet held at the Priyadarshani park in Mumbai from October 2-4.
The school won 23 medals in the meet that saw over 2,500 student participants from all over Maharashtra.
Akanksha Kumar won four medals a gold in 80m hurdles, a silver medal each in javelin throw and long jump, and one bronze in discus throw in the girls’ u-18 category.
Three other students won gold medals Tithiksha Singh in 3km walk, Saranya Nadar in javelin throw, and Abhay Chand Thakur in high jump. The winners have been selected to represent the state at the national athletic meet to be held at Christ Vidyalaya Niketan in Trissur, Kerala from November 16-19.
Mehek Negandhi, who won a silver in 3km walk, has also been selected for participating in the national meet.
“They have performed very well in the meet; we won 6 gold medals,” said Kalpesh Waikar, the coach.
Shoaib Memon won a gold medal in the 100m run in the u-14 boys’ category, while in the u-16 100m relay, the team won four gold medals. Arshdip Singh won two silver medals in the u-14 discus throw and shot put categories.
