A day after Bombay High Court rejected the anticipatory bail application (ABA) of Priyanka Nikam, owner of Purva Playschool, she surrendered before Navi Mumbai Crime Branch on Friday. Last month, Nikam and her employee Afsana Shaikh were arrested by the Kharghar police after a shocking video went viral in which Shaikh was seen brutally assaulting a ten-month old girl in Nikam's creche.

Nikam was later granted bail by the Panvel Court and since then she had been absconding. The police later applied attempted to commit murder charge in the FIR and had been seeking her custody in the fresh charges.

Nikam then applied for bail in session court and after her bail was rejected, she approached High Court to seek relief. Navi Mumbai police were looking for her for past 20 days and had sent the team to Nikam's home town Kolhapur after they had tracked her mobile. but she was untraceable there too. "Nikam was arrested on Friday from Kharghar.

We had produced her in a court on Friday and she has been sent to Kalyan jail," said Devidas Sonawane, Investigating officer of the case. "We just want that the culrpits(Nikam and Shaikh) should not be spared and get punished." Said Ruchita Sinha mother of the infant.
