In order to emphasize on the need to plant more trees in the city, students from the Rotaract Club of KC College have come up with an initiative titled 'Mission Greenery'. As part of the programme, the students have been making efforts to ensure that more trees are planted across the city.

Over the last one month, the student volunteers have visited various housing societies in an attempt to spread awareness on planting trees.

Additionally, the students have offered plant saplings to the housing societies at affordable rates so that they can plant it in their balconies or anywhere inside the society premises. Students have sold over a hundred saplings so far.

"In a city like Mumbai, it is becoming increasingly important to have more trees to have fresh air. Through this initiative, we procure small plant saplings from a local nursery in Borivali and sell them to housing societies at affordable rates. We also guide them about how to plant trees and the benefits of doing so" said Gunjan Punwani, a first year BMM student at the college who is a part of the initiative.

In the second leg of the project, the profits received from selling these plants would be donated to the farmers of drought affected regions in Maharashtra. "Mission Greenery is not just a social cause but it is also a way to help the farmers of India! All the proceeds will go towards the farmers' empowerment campaign through which we have been helping farmers by building wells and other such assistance," added Punwani.
