A 27-year-old fashion designer was allegedly forced into prostitution and raped by several men in last June in Dubai. The victim alleged in her statement to the Khar police on Thursday that a woman, who runs a boutique in Khar (W), had offered her a job in Dubai. After reaching there, she was confined to a room and raped over a period of 25 days.
The victim lives in Kandivli with her family. She completed a fashion designing course in 2012. According to her, she came into contact with the boutique owner through one of her friends a few months before June last year. When she told the boutique owner that she was looking for a job, the woman offered her one in Dubai. Avinash Dube, the victim’s advocate, said, “The woman promised the victim that she would get a salary of Rs4 lakh per month. She took her to Dubai on June 1, 2013, on a tourist visa.”
“She was confined to a room where several men allegedly raped her over 25 days. After her return to Mumbai, the victim was sacred because she was threatened by the boutique owner,” added Dube. The victim came to the police station on December 28 along with her advocate and submitted a letter. “We have recorded her statement and are verifying facts,” said Rajendra Tendulkar, an officer.
