NM Joshi Marg police had on Friday registered an FIR against three partners of 1Above and booked them for culpable homicide not amounting to murder, among other Indian Penal Code charges.

According to the complaint filed by BMC, an inspection of the sites on Saturday revealed that these establishments had flouted several norms of the MRTP Act by illegal construction, alterations and extensions.

"We have registered three separate cases under the MRTP Act for the violations," said S. Jayakumar, Additional commissioner of police, central region.

A BMC official said, "The MRTP act is levied when an unauthorized development within the structure is executed without approval of the competent authority. Sheds are allowed during monsoons and the permission ends at 31 September. So when a restaurant has a shed during a fire, it becomes an authorized development."
