On Friday, the Directorate of Kalina Forensic Science Laboratories (FSL) submitted its report to the Mumbai police and JJ hospital. The FSL report does not show the presence of Benzodiazepine in Indrani Mukerjea's urine samples. This is the second time that the FSL report has shown zero presence of the drug in Indrani's urine.

The Kalina FSL conducted the tests on the urine samples for three days on High-Performance Thin Layer Chromatography (HPTLC) and Headspace Gas Chromatography while the Hinduja hospital conducted the tests through EMIT Semi-Quantitative method. The Kalina FSL was handed over samples of 4ml of urine and 5ml of gastric lavage for examinations to identify the presence of the drug in it.

Dr KV Kulkarni, Director of FSL, said, "We have submitted our reports which state negative presence of Benzodiazepine or any other drug. Since past three days, the samples have been examined thoroughly. The test results being negative depends on the samples submitted to the FSL for examinations."

In October 2015, Mukerjea was diagnosed with a drug overdose and the FSL report showed no presence of any drug in the urine samples. The prison department officials are not too keen to ascertain the FSL report and are highly relying on the discharge report submitted by PD Hinduja hospital.

Rajvardhan Sinha, Inspector General (Prisons), said, "The FSL report will not be taken into consideration while the discharge report of PD Hinduja hospital has been considered. Our enquiry is ongoing and we have taken statements of Peter Mukerjea and Sanjeev Khanna as they too were present in the escort van with Indrani when they were taken to the court."

Mukerjea, lodged in Byculla jail for the murder of her daughter Sheena Bora, was rushed to JJ Hospital on Friday night in an unconscious state. The tests conducted by Hinduja found 6,468 nanograms per millilitre of benzodiazepine in Indrani's urine which is 30 times over the normal range.
