The state Public Works Department (PWD) has chosen the first long weekend of 2017 to begin repairs on the Kalanagar Junction flyover on the Western Express Highway. For five days, starting Thursday till January 30, one side of the bridge will be out of bounds for traffic.
"The expansion joints of the flyover's north-bound lanes require replacement, while a part of the structure needs repair," said a PWD official. "The north-bound (towards Borivli) part of the bridge will remain closed to vehicles from Thursday to Monday," said Sanjay Jadhav, Deputy Commissioner of Police, (suburban) Traffic.
The south-bound lanes (towards Dadar) will be out of bounds between 3 pm and 10 pm during the five days.
