The police have arrested a 36-year-old man from Kamothe for allegedly raping his minor daughter over three years. The accused reportedly even threatened to kill her if she didnt respond to his advances.
According to police, the accused, identified as Dadashaw Baban Date, is a labourer at JNPT.
According to Kamothe police, Date had been raping his daughter, who is now aged 14, since the last three years. After three years of undergoing torture, the girl finally decided to break her silence and she confided in her mother, who then approached the police. Date, a mathadi worker (head loader) at JNPT, started raping his daughter when they were residing in Mankhurd, said S Mullemwar, senior PI of Kamothe Police station. Mullemwar added that when the family shifted to Kamothe in 2011, Date continued to rape his daughter. The girl finally narrated the whole episode to her mother, said Mullemwar.
The accused has been booked under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences 2012 and he has been sent on police remand.
