JJ College alumni reach out to poor students

The Alumni Association of Sir JJ College of Architecture (AAJJA) has decided to provide financial assistance to students of their alma mater who come from economically weaker sections. Not only this, good students will be chosen for scholarships to fund their course. Final year students will also be assisted in terms of getting better placements by AAJJA.

The three-year-old alumi association, which celebrated their Alumni Day on December 14, also plans to hold talks, lectures from eminent personalities belonging to different fields and workshops for the students. It also plans on holding competitions for the students, which will be judged by members of AAJJA, which will in turn help the students by facilitating their interaction with personalities working in the architecture industry.

Rajiv Harmalkar, vice-president of AAJJA, said, "We have decided to give financial assistance to more students this year to complete their five-year course. We also plan to give scholarships to bright students starting from Rs 21,000. This will not deprive talented candidates from the opportunity of taking this course."

Rajiv Mishra, principal of the college, said, "The AAJJA has turned three. Through these activities, we are aiming towards helping students grow. They have planned some competitions for students. These will get them some much-need incentive."
