The Juhu police have not yet given the clean chit to Sooraj Pancholi, son of actor Aditya Pancholi, in the actress Jiah Khan suicide case.
Khan and Sooraj were in touch with each other for the past one year. They first met on a social networking site and soon became good friends. Sooraj gave her a BlackBerry bold mobile phone as a gift.
The police have so far recorded statement of eight people, including actor Aditya Pancholi, his son Sooraj, their domestic help Deva and a woman. Khan was suspecting that Sooraj was having an affair with the woman.
The police have also recorded the statement of Sooraj’s childhood friend Karan, doctor Anant Pal Singh, who had saved Khan eight months ago when she had attempted suicide by slitting her hand. Khan’s mother Rabiya and her friend Anju Mahendroo’s statement were also recorded.
Few hours before committing suicide, Khan had called Sooraj but he didn’t respond. So she went to his place in Juhu where Sooraj’s domestic help Deva told her that he was busy with his father.
Sources said actually Sooraj was not at home and he was having dinner with his childhood friend Karan at a hotel in Juhu. He apparently told Deva that if Khan calls him tell her that he is busy with his father in the house.
When Khan had attempted suicide eight months ago, she immediately called up Sooraj. She was allegedly heavily drunk.
Then Sooraj immediately called his childhood friend Karan and his sister Jaya who later contacted doctor Anant Pal Singh and went to Khan’s flat.
Khan had committed suicide in her Juhu flat on Monday night.
She was alone at that time and her mother had gone out for dinner with Anju Mahendroo and Aditya Pancholi.
Before committing suicide, Sooraj and Khan had called each other for more than 10 times. The duo had arguments before she committed suicide. The incident came into light after her mother returned home and found her hanging from the ceiling fan around 11.23pm.
Meanwhile, Khan’s last rites were completed on Wednesday afternoon.
With moist eyes, family members and close friends buried Jiah at Santa Cruz cemetry around 2pm. Aamir Khan’s wife Kiran Rao, actor Riteish Deshmukh, Aditya Pancholi with his son Sooraj, actor Raza Murad, TV actress Urvashi Dhokalia and others were present.
