Jain community help rain-affected Vasai locals

In order to provide help for the community members who suffered during the heavy downpour, the Jain community members are helping the Jain families in Nallasopara, Vasai and Virar area.

The members have done a survey for eight days and have finalised to help around 100 houses in different areas who need help. According to the Samast Mahajan members, earlier during the heavy rainfall and a few days later have distributed food grains to all the people in this area. But now, they have shortlisted few houses belonging to Jain community members, whom they will extend infrastructure restoration help too. 

These houses are mainly located on the ground floor of the buildings due to which they suffered water-logging issue on July 10. Speaking about the initiative, Girish Shah, managing trustee of Samast Mahajan, said, “Two trustees and few members went for the survey. We will be helping them by reconstructing a few of their furniture, doors, giving them pillows, providing food grains. Each family will be given help of around Rs 25,000. We have also given a contract for the home which requires minor repair like paint, electricity connection and plumbing.”They have also helped around three families to pay school fees of their children. “During the first few days, we majorly concentrated on providing medicines and food grains which are basic needs.School fees of a few children were also given. We have requested people from the community to pay a donation for these families,” said Girish Shah. Areas in which they will be working includes - Samta Nagar, Dindayal and Sai Nagar in Vasai; Achole road in Nallasopara, Ram mandir road in Virar.
