Following the orders of special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act Court (MCOCA), the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed the supplementary charge sheet against gangster Chhota Rajan in connection with his alleged role in killing journalist Jyotirmoy Dey (J Dey).

The agency, while filing the document before the special court presided over by judge SS Adkar, said that they have included the statement of 41 new witnesses in the document. The CBI, meanwhile, has added a new accused named Ravi Ram Rateshwar, who is shown as a wanted accused in the case. The agency said that he is accused of supplying global sim cards to other accused on behest of Rajan.

Rajan was produced before the court via video conferencing and the court informed the accused about the charge sheet filed against him by the agency for his alleged role in killing Dey.

Of the many charges, the main charges slapped against the gangster are under MCOCA, Arms Act and conspiracy.

Meanwhile, heavy rains of Mumbai affected movement of the CBI officer who was supposed to reach the court around 11am. This correspondent was informed that since the officer was stuck in the rains, there was a delay in producing documents before the court.

The court, during its last hearing, had given an ultimatum to the agency to file the charge sheet against the accused on August 5, failing which the court shall proceed in framing charges against the extradited gangster.

Dey, a veteran crime reporter, was shot dead near his residence at Hiranandani Gardens in Powai on June 11, 2011, by motorcycle-borne shooters, allegedly at Rajan's command.

Four persons on two bikes fired at Dey, who was also riding a bike. After the attack, he was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead. Rajan was allegedly upset with two articles written by Dey and, therefore, ordered his killing.
