One of Bollywood's most famous couples, Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan, were granted divorce on Saturday by the Bandra family court, exactly six months after Roshan approached the court. The divorce was granted on grounds of mutual consent with no direction towards payment of alimony to the actor's estranged wife. The court has granted them joint custody of their two children.

The couple had announced the end of their 14-year-old marriage a year ago, after which Hrithik had approached the family court and filed for divorce.

An official from the family court, on condition of anonymity, told dna that days after Hrithik and Sussanne approached the court, they underwent a counseling session, which is a mandatory process that a couple has to go through before the court passes a verdict.

Hrithik and Sussanne, both dressed in black t-shirts, were in court sharp at 10.30 am. The court, presided over by principal judge Dr Laxmi Rao, asked the duo to accompany her to a chamber. The two left the chamber 10 minutes later. Neither of them commented on the matter, however Sussanne's lawyer Mrunalini Deshmukh claimed that the petition has been allowed, and divorce has been granted to the two.

When the correspondent contacted Advocate Deshmukh, she claimed that the court had accepted the divorce petition. When asked about the custody of their two kids, she said thw two were granted joint custody. When asked if the court had passed any orders in favour of Sussanne on the issue of her allegedly demanding an alimony amount close to Rs 400 crore, advocate Deshmukh said, “It is a very much personal matter and I do not wish to comment on it.”

Meanwhile, when contacted, Hrithik's lawyer, advocate Dipesh Mehta, said, “It is a unique divorce which has never happened and which I have ever seen. There is no give and take in writing legally. There is only trust, love, respect and faith in each other. About the alimony part, there were no orders passed by the court. Sussanne has faith in Hrithik and so there are no legal orders about the alimony part. He is a responsible father and will take care of kids. The divorce was granted with mutual consent. There is no legal document of any nature whatsoever signed by both parties in connection with the alimony. It is only on the trust and respect they have for each other that they will mutually work it out as and when required.”
