When maestros Talat Aziz, Anup Jalota and Pankaj Udhas who’ve been friends for the last three decades were chatting one evening, Bina Aziz, Talat’s wife, joined them. During their conversation, Anup suggested to Bina that she pool their talents together. That was when the concept for Bina’s new music club, Music Mania, was born.

“The aim of ‘Music Mania’ is to provide the right kind of entertainment to music lovers,” says ghazal maestro Pankaj Udhas, adding, “Music of listeners’ choice is not readily available on TV or radio. This is a club for good, clean music that makes sense through live, exclusive events in the city.”

The maestros will be kicking off their club with an event at Sunville Banquets in Worli on November 26 that will not only feature their combined talent, but will also promote young Hyderabadi singer Adil Hussaini.

More concerts are to follow during the year for a select few members (estimated at about 200-250) who will attend niche events in plush settings and a wine-and-dine concept. “We want to get to know the members of the club through our interactions with them,” says Anup Jalota.

“One of the features of the club will be the search for new singing talent across genres of music, who will also perform at the live events we organise,” says Bina Aziz. She added that these singers will be promoted on the digital platform through hungama.com and on radio through 92.7 Big FM.

According to Soumini Paul of artistaloud.com (a division of hungama.com) and Safia Ally of 92.7 Big FM, the new artist talent hunt which will be conducted through live events and digital voting will reach out to over 65 million people.
