Suresh Nair, 52, business, resident of Andheri (east), Marol

He gets just two to three hours a day to spend with his family. But Suresh Nair doesn't feel deprived because, as he say, "I spend quality time" with them. "We fight, talk, and mainly pass time talking," says Nair.

Once outside, Nair looks to live the life of a 'conscious citizen', and draws flak as well as appreciation. "There are people who have asked me if the road belongs to my father after I have asked them not to spit on it. And there are times when people have appreciated me for having asked them to be civil in their behaviour. ('Thank you, I have stopped spitting on roads after you told me not to')," says the 52-year-old Andheri resident.

A businessman, Nair's dreams are John Lenonesque. "I dream of a country with no religion, where people work together and live peacefully," he says, adding, "I am a firm believer that citizens should become more involved with their city. I believe in working with everyone hand in hand, and not being concerned about their identity or religion. Also, I think we blame our governments too much. We should realise that it's we who choke our drains just an hour after they have been cleaned."

Nair, who was brought up in the city, lives with his wife and a daughter. "I believe in simple living and high thinking. If all people work towards a common goal, there will be more peace and trust. I look forward to that day. All people should," says Nair.
