The Amboli police have registered a case against music composer turned film director Ismail Darbar, his son and two others for an alleged assault. While Darbar, 50, is wanted in the case, the other three accused including his son Zaid, 21, who is a choreographer, and his friends Nishant Singh, 21 and Mohsin Khan, 29, have been arrested.

The case was registered following a complaint by the victim, Prashant Chaudhary, 29, who used to work under Darbar as an assistant director. Chaudhary was allegedly beaten up by the four accused on Monday night in Jogeshwari (West) over pending salary issues.

Ramesh Khadtare, senior PI of Amboli police, said, "The incident happened in the parking lot of Evershine building in Link Road, Jogeshwari where Chaudhary lived. The four beat him up after threatening him."

Following a complaint, a case was registered on charges of assault and criminal intimidation and the three accused were arrested on Tuesday morning.

The complainant informed the police that he worked as an assistant director in Darbar's upcoming film and the latter allegedly failed to pay his salary as promised. He said that he did not get any response from Darbar when he requested for the same. The duo allegedly had an argument over the phone on Monday and Darbar allegedly threatened to beat him up.

On Monday, Zaid went to Chaudhary's home and told him that they have brought the money and that it is kept in the car. He took him to the parking lot where he promised to hand over the money. "In the parking lot, Darbar and the other two accused assaulted him with hockey sticks. The four fled from there. Following this, the security guard was informed and the complainant approached the police. Chaudhary has sustained minor injuries, said the police.

"Investigations are on. We will be checking the CCTVs installed in the building premises. Darbar is wanted in the case. The other three have been produced in court," added Khadtare.
