Peddar Road, Altamount Road, Tardeo and other important junctions witnessed a high vehicular congestion due to heavy VVIP movement in the area following the wedding ceremony of Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal on Wednesday evening.

According to the police, the traffic was disrupted for at least three hours in the evening, but was later cleared out by the deployed policemen. Traffic was restored to normalcy later.

Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) said, "The vehicular movement on Bhulabhai Desai Road, Altamount Road and Peddar Road was like any usual working day traffic on Wednesday morning and afternoon. However, the Wednesday evening vehicular movement was comparatively congested considering the VVIP movement."

A senior traffic police officer said there was a 10 per cent rise in the traffic congestion in South Mumbai. The police bandobast and surveillance was tightened to ensure smooth vehicular flow. Personnel from Mumbai Police, traffic police, along with CCTV surveillance played a major role to control the traffic.

Residents of Tardeo were also issued a request letter by the Tardeo traffic division to refrain from parking on the Altamount Road. The letter had asked the residents not to park vehicles from Wednesday 7 am till Thursday 9 am.

"We had issued request letters to all the residents to avoid parking their vehicles on northbound and southbound roads of Altamound Road. The letters were issued in public interest to ensure that there is no unnecessary congestion on the road," said Senior Police Inspector of Tardeo traffic division, Sangram Pache. However, not all residents complied with the request and some four wheelers were seen parked on the Altamount Road.
