Irishman commits suicide in Mumbai

An Irish national committed suicide in five-star hotel's restroom in Powai on Monday. The 40-year-old man was seeing a 24-year-old Indian girl for the past two months. She, his former colleague, and was mentioned in the suicide note. However, the police said that they had no found anything to indicate that it might be a case of abetment to suicide.

According to the Powai police, Darren Campbell was a consulting director at a Dutch animation firm. His body was discovered when the hotel staff went to his room to check on him when he did not check out even though he had a flight to catch. The Powai police recorded the statement of the girl as Campbell had mentioned her name in the suicide note.

"We don't have many details of of his personal, but during the investigations we found that he was in touch with the Indian girl even after she quit the company and a number of messages and calls were exchanged between them," said Yadavrao Jadhav, senior inspector from Powai police station.

Jadhav added, "We have gone through the messages but till now we have not found anything that could confirm that there is a case of abatement to suicide. However, we are making further inquiries and if we find any evidence we will take appropriate action."
